A day trip to Stirling entailed walking around the lovely town, a spot of whisky tasting at the Stirling Whisky Shop (where we had a great chat with the man there who knows his whisky knowledge), an un-satisfying Sunday lunch and of course visiting the Castle and taking in the views from up there. The Castle has an amazing lookout spot to view the surroundings, including the National Wallace Monument.
Without knowing what else there is to do in Stirling apart from viewing the Castle (which you probably know of from the film Braveheart, I haven’t seen it but it’s on my to do list, especially now that I’ve been to Stirling), we set off on the train from Glasgow and admired the hills and greenery on our way there. It was a lovely day in Stirling and well worth a visit. We were hoping there would be a bit of atmosphere around town seeing as it was the weekend of St Andrews Day but nevertheless enjoyed the day and may possibly return for the annual whisky event in May in 2014.
